WHAT WE OFFER

Our Programs

We offer Semester and Academic Year programs for full-time study in an American high school to students between the ages of 15 and 18. Students are placed in high schools across the country. Each student lives with a carefully selected volunteer Host Family and is supported by the Community Representative assigned to that community. All students are provided with medical coverage, emergency assitance through our 24-hour Emergency Hotline, and direct communication with the overseas sponsor and natural family.

Our worldwide contacts, national field staff, and dedication to global education makes us a leader in the field of student exchange. Both here and abroad, we are all contributing to the development and education of tomorrow’s leaders.

Our Founder

Mary M. Kass is an international affairs expert and the Founder and CEO of Face the World Foundation and the Face the World Global Education Group. In 1993, Mary founded Face the World Foundation, a J-1 cultural exchange program for international high school students, Education One, an F-1 academic year program, and American Work Adventures, a J-1 seasonal work and travel program for international university students. Through the years, Mary’s passion for international exchange continues to grow and is still strongly dedicated to providing a cross-cultural experience for families and students alike.

This opportunity has allowed me to utilize my talents and abilities to work with students and families from all over the world. Our family has hosted over 26 students that we now call our own and we have had the opportunity to travel to many wonderful countries. Hosting and working in youth exchange is one of the best things I've ever done.

We were thinking about fostering and thought we would try hosting an exchange student instead. Very happy with our decision! And it's safe to say our student was as well.

Since we were not able to travel the world, we couldn't take our children around the world. We were able to bring the world to them by hosting foreign exchange students. In doing so we have gained new children and extended family around the world.

We decided to host an exchange student because we wanted to learn about a new culture and give a student the opportunity to experience living in the U.S. It has not been easy, yet we are very thankful for everything we have learned and shared with her. We have opened our hearts and home so she can learn, grow, and take some wonderful memories home.

Our student has become part of the family. He participates in family activities, helps with chores, and tried to fully experience American culture. In return we have learned about another culture and feel we bonded with him. My favorite story was when he went to Pike's Peak with us - he was very excited!

We have learned to appreciate the differences in cultures between the students. Even though there are a lot of differences there is also a lot of common ground. We still remember when she first arrived. There were five large dogs here and she was a little taken back. Now she is very easy around them.
